Faith Formation

Children are invited to come between 10:00am - 10:30am for a time of self-directed fun and fellowship.  At 10:30am our children join us for the beginning of the service of worship.  Then, they go into their classrooms (Infants through Kindergarten, and 1st through 6th grades). What they learn and experience in their age groups is consistent with the message and scripture used in worship. Our classroom time with the children includes the use of visual and media arts, storytelling, drama, games, and journaling.

Within the Sunday School hour, during the worship service, and through at-home activities we recognize, celebrate and bless the various milestones in our children’s lives.  Throughout the year we focus on milestones such as Baptism, Prayer, Receiving a Bible, Blessing of Backpacks, Communion, Confirmation, Money, Mission and Graduation.  Resources for parents and caregivers are provided, so that families can continue to celebrate and encourage children through important transitions.  Together we can explore how God is present in each stage of our lives and honor the growth of our children within the context of church and family.

Youth in grades 7 – 12, meet at 9:00am -10:00am for Sunday School.  Youth determine what they want to study and then are given resources that will help them with their discussion and desired learning.

Adults at St. James have a variety of ways they can move forward in their journey of faith.  We offer group as well as self-directed resources (to be used at your own pace and at time that works best for you,) face-to-face gatherings and sessions by conference call, one time sessions, as well as sessions that meet a few times or for several months.
