We at St. James are not just interested in plugging holes or filling empty positions on our board and committees. Rather, we have a strong commitment to making sure every person at St. James is only doing what engages their skills, experience, interests and/or passions.
You may be asking by now, how do we do that? Each person at St. James is given the opportunity to fill out a spiritual gifts inventory, which helps identify a persons skills, interests, experience and passions, as well as how they would like to work and what time they are able to commit at this time. Then, the completed inventory is entered into a database, so that as opportunities arise within St. James, as well as in the community, the people with those interests, skills, experience and passion are notified of the opportunity to serve.
In addition, those with like interests and passions are periodically called together by our pastor to explore what they could do together to make a difference. Our desire at St. James is for every member of our congregation to wisely use the specific gifts God has given them and then discern where God may be calling them to use their gift.
